CBSI 2023 Cosplay Competition

Calling all Cosplayers!

We’re recognizing your efforts and enthusiasm; and holding a make, wear and shoot competition.

Send us your best photos and we’re offering cash to the best of Buchanan. We’re calling for Highland entries across three categories… T&C’s below.

Competition will be judged on:

  • Costume detail

  • Photographic composition

  • Interest and Entertainment

If this is successful we might consider holding this competition (under different categories) every year…

Highland Warrior

A US$150 cash prize to the best sword wielding, menacing, fierce Highland Warrior. Higlanders were respected and feared throughout Europe – lets own that!

Warrior Princess

A US$150 cash prize to the best Warrior Princess or dire damsel. Scottish women were not shrinking violets: but fierce nettles.

Scrappy Squire

A US$150 cash prize to a young lad or lassie (under 18). History teaches us than many youngsters were led to battle, so lets respect and reward that.

Terms and conditions

Everyone hates rules, but we can't go around living in chaos. So, here's everything you need to know about being in the CBSI Cosplay Contest.

  • This is a celebration of Scottish culture that focuses on craftsmanship and enthusiastic reenactment.

  • Entries must be photographic in nature. Please credit the photographer.

  • 50% of the cosplay must be constructed or altered by the entrant. If you are modeling a cosplay that someone else made, they MUST be credited.

  • CBSI reserves the right to publish any and all submissions and possibly use material for promotional purposes.

  • Competition closes 15 September 2023 - midnight ACST (Australian Central Time).

  • All costumes must feature an officially recognised Buchanan tartan.

  • Competition is only open to current CBSI members (which is just $25 P.A., to apply click here).

  • Only one winner per category.

  • Jugdes selection is final, and non-negotiable. Judges are not permitted to discuss the judging process or the results. 

  • Winner (or their selected guardian) will be contact for bank Account details. Funds will be distributed electronically.

  • If you are applying for the Squire category – under the age of 18 – you must have your parent or guardian's permission to enter.

  • We reserve the right to refuse entry or participation to anyone for any reason. We also reserve the right not to explain it to you.

  • Group entries are permitted, but each participant will be judged on individual merit, and there is still only one prize per category.
