NYC Tartan Week & Tartan Day Parade

The annual NYC Tartan Day Parade brings together thousands of people from the United States, and Scotland by providing meaningful connections through the celebration of Scottish heritage and culture. The Parade plays an integral role in marking National Tartan Day (April 6), a day declared by the U.S. Senate in 1998 to officially recognize the “outstanding achievements and contributions made by Scottish Americans to the United States.”

Now in its 25th year the NYC Tartan Day Parade, which is free to all those who participate and represents the highlight of a week long series of Scottish-themed festivities designated as “NYC Tartan Week,” includes over 3,000 bagpipers, Highland dancers, clan organizations, Scottish dog breeds, and more, proudly marching up Sixth Avenue amongst tens of thousands of spectators in person and online.

CLAN BUCHANAN:

11am – Pre-Parade meet up and lunch
2pm – Step off from 6th Ave and 45th Street, Manhattan.

Join CBSI's North Atlantic Regional Director Michael Richardson and march with him and fellow wardens in NYC's Annual Tartan Day Parade. We'll gather for pre-parade lunch, pints and drams and walk en masse to the pre-determined pre-parade rally point.

This will be Michael's 3rd year participating in this annual event ad his second year coordinating and acting as host, tour guide, restaurant critic and overall tour guide extraordinaire, having been passed the proverbial CBSI Parade Baton from our former President, Mr. David Byrne.

Michael will share details about pre-parade and post parade activities to those interested in attending and contacting him through CBSI or via email at richardsonma2@verizon.net
